Has anyone received chicks from Meyer in this heat?

No!
And usps has not updated tracking since they left the oregon postal facility tuesday.

Tracking online still says they will arrive today by 3 pm. Ha. Its now 9 pm.
The breeder noticed this and emailed me worried.

Hoping they arrive tomorrow morning at my post office....alive.

Thanks for asking.

I hope they arrive safely! Ours ship next week from Cackle.

I hope they are okay. Keep us posted. I understand there are always risks, but I wish if USPS are going to ship live animals, they would only do next day shipping. That would cut down on losses significantly from heat OR cold. Good luck.

Got the call from the post office at 5:45 this morning.
All 8 chicks are alive and well. Very alert, none are lethargic. They all popped out of the box like nothing happened. 3 days shipping did not affect them.

I have to say, if i ever need to purchase shipped chicks again, it will be in the summer and not early spring if i can possibly help it.

They seem so much healthier upon arrival. Not chilled. No recovery time.

Im sure the breeders stock had something to do with it but the heat for day olds is a benefit in my opinion.

That’s great news.

You’re welcome. Meyers is all we’ve used, over ten times. They are great with replacements but we’ve also built a great relationship with our local post office and they usually call us before they open and we go and pick them up. If you haven’t I would Try to make a call up there.
Yes! As of now, all 4 seem happy and healthy.
