I am trying to decide which incubator to buy. Has anyone tried the generic models on eBay? I am especially interested in the model for 48 eggs that is made of plastic, has a digital control panel, egg turner, fan...it looks great, but wondering does it work?

If that's the janoel I have the 96 model (ironic as I only tend to hatch 18 at most in one time), only problem I have is the water trays keep the humidity at 60 which is too high for me-i tend to put in some egg cups with water which brings it down to 40. Other than that I have been happy. Just hatched 6\6 silkies :)

I have friends who have been using those incubators for years with brilliant results.

I have just hatched my first lot and found (the hard way) that the digital temperature readout was about .8C higher than the temp was at egg level. So I would advise double check the temp readout - but otherwise it works brilliantly.
