It is day 19 and 13 of my 14 eggs have small areas of the shell pushed out. They are pure Brown Leghorn and Black Star cross. The Black Star will have the Brown Leghorn as the rooster. These eggs came from co-workers, so maybe having never been in a cool area have a head start.

I bought a small incubator at an auction for $5.00

I have gotten into the chicken businees far more than I thought I would. I currently have 5 Buff, 1 White Leghorn, 2 Lace Rock.

I also have a grab bag of Bantam feather legged eggs due to hatch next Friday.

I have had Feather legged Bantam's before , they are great and when hand rasied are more like a dog than a chicken.

At 7:00 this morning 13 of 14 eggs had pipped. My daughter called me at lunch and told me 3 were fully out. and all but 1 had chips poking out.

1 chipmunk colored (Brown Leghorn), 2 black (Black Star mix)

Looking forward to moving them into the brooder.

Pics tommorrow.

Time is dragging by at work now.

I am totally jelous of you. My batched I had two that hatched, They both hatched out on the 19th day. But out of 42 eggs they were the only ones that hatched. You are going to have to tell me your secret. Congradulations on your babies anyway

Well, 13 out of 14 are running around today, they started yesterday at 2:00 and at 11:15 last night I had them in the brooder and dry. The 14th egg did not show any sign of hatching but show movement when candled, this morning it had pipped, so maybe 100% percent hatch.

Little Giant still air incubator, eggs on their side the entire time, turned 3 times a day. (7:00am, 2:00pm, 9:00pm) Humidity 50-65 entire time.

Eggs came from two co-workers flock.

Striped ones are Brown Leghorns, Black are Black Stars, others are Hybrids between the two.

I have 10 feather legged Bantums that were mail ordered due to hatch next Thursday.
I will candle tonight.

It's official 14 out of 14, my daughter just call to say the late bloomer was out.

I guess I will put a small coop inside my current run, so the adult chickens don't try to peck and chase the young. I have several weeks to build there new home.

For those of you that have not tried hatching your own it can be very rewarding, afterall you are the first thing they see .
