I ended up hatching a single chick. I found a small hatchery that would send chicks. This was Nov.26, to ship the week of nov.28. they could not hatch enough chicks to send me mine. They now say week of the 10th.

How long do I wait past the first date they said they could ship on?

As long as it takes to get chicks.

That's the thing about hatching. Sometimes you have great hatches, sometimes not so much.

I don't like to mix 'em when the age difference is greater than 2 weeks.

I have never raised a single chick- I am so sorry I cannot help you there.

I would defiantly try to find at least one more some feed stores carry chicks all year, most in my experience don't so call around. Chicks raised by themselves don't do well.

I had four 3-week old chicks and four day-old chicks. I put them together as soon as the day-olds arrived, and now (at 13 weeks and 17 weeks), they're a solid little flock. I think, though, that 3 weeks would be the greatest age difference I would put together as chicks, though. Good luck!

My 2 week old Polish has no idea what they are! But there's no aggression. My friend is picking up 8 of them, so I will just have 2 with him.
