hatchery salmon faverolles

    I ordered 2 with my layers, both supposed to be pullets. I am pretty sure one is, the other I am not so sure about. they are 3 weeks old now. they are from Ideal and I have read on here that sometimes the hatchery stock is pretty off color.

    #1, who I think is a pullet:

    I think you have it figured out. That dark chest coming in is screaming male to me.

    #2 does look like a cockerel to me.

    I was sitting out with them, looking up how to tell on here and that was what made me ask! Its not black black but its not brown either :/ and its face is redder than the other ones, though I am thinking its a little early to tell that way but its another difference.

    I think I will hope the dark brahma rooster I ordered turns out to be a girl, so I won't need to pare down a boy. As it is, I am worried the partridge cochin I have is a rooster too when I ordered 2 pullets of those as well lol

    I wouldn't give up just yet. I have seen some awful colored pullets from Ideal.
