these are the incubating eggs. below is a tan LO egg. In my case day 19 pip holes and chicks in air cell. Neither egg is "ready" to hatch or needs help. Both eggs have yolk to use still. above is a blue andelusian egg. 15 hrs. later or so starting to zip. Still absorbing yolk and the green egg pipped. 24 hrs after the first pip is a hatch... It hatches when there is no more yolk to use. The chick pushing off the lower 1/2 makes the legs strong...still day 20... The shell may be attached by a cord of blood/ and or goo, just leave chick to let it drop off natural. Some times they pip the wrong end, if they do don't help, they need to stay in for longer especially if there is blood.. make sure the beak is free and then leave it be. this one was bleeding from it's hole, I dabbed with tissue, checked the beak, and dabbed a bit if flour on the bloody bit. I didn't remove any shell, It was from where the beak poked it took some undigested yolk with to the out side, but still contained in it's weird little sack. I pushed it back into shell with a bobby pin. If I was to "help" this chick, it would be way too soon. I just know. up date. day 21 wrong way pipped egg chick still in egg and alive. I kept a warm moist paper towel over hole. last egg has pipped. The first 3 in brooder. morning day 22 still waiting on one LO egg.
