Received 6 light Sussex eggs this morning in the post, they’ve been resting since around 8am, will be setting them late tonight around 11pm (so around 15hours resting).
Hoping for a good hatch rate, this is my first time hatching with a broody. Will be updating with pictures throughout for anyone who’s interested, also might need a bit of advice along the way 😅
My Silkie has been broody around 5 days now and has been moved into her separate broody pen for around 3 days now. She only comes out once a day so seems very prepared for it.

Broody hens are the best incubators!
they know what they’re doing and are very committed
(silkies especially)

1 of the eggs is quite dark, it looks even darker in real life. The person I bought them off sells light Sussex eggs and RIR eggs, I’m just wondering if I may have been given a RIR as well by mistake 🤣 unless light Sussex can lay eggs that dark
