Have you been watching the news?

If you have any bricks laying around. Grab a couple and put them in the grill when you are cooking. Or build a little outside fire and get them cookin'. Get them nice and hot...where you can't even touch them. Use welding gloves (my idea of oven mitts) or the fancy flowered ones to remove the bricks. Place the bricks in metal cooking pans and set those under the kitchen table between your feet. Toss a lap blanket over your legs so that it reaches around the pan to the floor. The heat will radiate up and keep you toasty. You can also wrap the hot bricks in a dish towel and put them under the covers with you when you go to sleep at night.

Good luck!

Oh my goodness, that was grandpa's old trick! I forgot about that, thanks for the reminder!:highfive:

I guess the point of my post is that it's best to not heat the coop. My gals would be dead by now if I had.
I saw a pic of.my breeder sitting in his car late at night with a box of baby day old chicks to keep them warm and monitor the temp.
Apples and Oranges...
....older birds are fine, but day olds(or an incubator running) is another story.

Being without power stinks.....sure can create some comparative gratitude.
Then there the powers back on dance.....On the Grid again(sung to willie nelsons tune)

Oh good grief, it DID look like I was comparing chicks and older birds didn't it! Ahhh, just was throwing in an extra tidbit showing how miserable no power is AND giving props to my breeder. Good guy;). Sorry for being so unclear.
Can't wait to dance!!

Poor guy...I would be worried sick, hope he has a plan.

Lost power week ago Sunday at 4am due to wind.
Restoration wasn't announced until 11am....for 11PM Monday.
Was just about ready to call to make arrangements to move freezer contents and get water when it came back on!!
On the Grid again..lalala.... so damn glad to be On the Grid again.
