that when you agree with people, they think you are wonderful; and when you don't, they think you are obnoxious and opinionated?

Funny how that works.

I guess the answer is to go through life agreeing with everyone.

I have noticed that. Have you noticed that if someone posts they love snakes/hawks/coons/ whatever, that right after that someone else posts they hate snakes/hawks/coons, whatever? It works vice versa also, if someone posts they hate snakes/hawks/coons/ whatever, the next new post is how much someone else loves them?
