these chickens from viet nam and very pricey , am just wondering any body here have this breed
There was a thread a couple of years back and the conclusion was that they are so rare no one had imported them in to the US:
They list the breed name as Ga Ho or Dong Tao, I have also seen the name as Ga Dong or Vietnamese Game. (ga is the Vietnamese name for chicken--the only word I know in Vietnamese so I can order off a menu and not get something unexpected )
And I just realized, I need to add: !
Ya, that is right.
BTW welcome to BYC!!
Okay, the nurse in me looks at those legs and automatically starts thinking..."fluid retention, possible congestive heart failure, probable celluliits, call the doc for some antibiotics and diuretics, elevate those legs to get that swelling out, maybe start ace wraps, how much salt does he eat............" .
Think I've been doing this too long?
And welcome to byc!
Welcome to BYC! The chickens in the pictures are healthy! Other than their feet they look great...and if their feet are supposed to look like that I guess they still look great!
Agreed. Those legs are just...wow
they are selling for almost $2,000 USD each in Vietnam
They look like something out of a Resident Evil game!
Have to say though: be interested to see them stood next to a more "conventional" breed for size comparison
Wow, that's expensive. I wonder if they have trouble with fertility. Seems like it might be awkward for the roo to mount the hen.
Are you from Vietnam or visited there? Do you know the preferred name?
