I had posted in New Member introductions that I hadn't told my husband about the impending hatch. I'm still awaiting the arrival of my fertile eggs. My husband has some strange idea that he does everything. I am thinking that's because he feels his way is better than anyone else's. But since he failed to discuss my chicks with me, I went ahead with the project, leaving him completely out of it.

NOW... I think he's figured it out. He made some random comment about chicks, eggs & hatching... no sure...

No offense but this is not a relationship I see lasting very long....

Sometimes it is better to do things seperate. He does it his way,and you do it your way.No need to argue, but never ever do the *see I told you* when things don't work out for the other person. The results speak for themself. Happy hatching for you botrh.

With his take-charge attitude I see a grand coop in your future, and it sounds like he's gonna make a great chicken papa. [IMG] [IMG]

Thanks guys. He's 71 and I'm 44... he is super duper active and I'm creative. So far so good, I think he's figuring things out. It's too hard to hide. I keep calling it "My Project". And he just smiles with a twinkle in his eye. He made some remark about eggs, hatching or something of the sort. He's no fool. Sometimes it just fun to see what happens.

For better or for worse, I can relate to this really well. My wife is 18 years younger then me and I am told that I am very controlling (something that I never admit to even though I am well aware of it's truth). It is nice that you are aware and seem to handle it quite well.

I'm not sure I understand. You are hatching out chicks without your husband's permission? How could he not know?

"Hun, what's that?" He points at a new device sitting in the corner of the room.

"Er, um, my new hair dryer?"

He studies the device and nods sagely. "I see. What are the eggs for?"

    "Er, um...I'm cooking them."

He runs his fingers through his white hair. "Yes, I can see that. I believe it's called incubation. And you do know chicks will hatch out., don't you?"

"Oh really? Do you think so? That would be so exciting wouldn't it?"

He sighs in resignation. "I'll go look at coop plans....."

LOL!!! Actually it went like this... (made love) then "Sooooo when are you going to tell me about the incubator and the toy barn?" Me, giggling hysterically..... for awhile. "Um, when they start pecking holes in the eggs??!" He eventually utters, "I'm just disappointed you were hiding this from me." I reply, "I'm disappointed that I couldn't discuss this with you." Still giggling madly. So, the eggs arrived today. I'll keep you all posted! It's been fun so far.
