Having a few problems... suggestions?

I bought a hen this weekend & I am having trouble getting into the coop to check for eggs. She stays out of the way or is easily moved, but my other chickens (all young) wait at the door trying to fly out. Is there a way to get them to go out into the run while I look in the nesting boxes? I have tried throwing feed out, but they go out for it on their own time. My arms are all scratched up from trying to keep them in today when I opened the coop to check for eggs. Also, when is it likely the hen will get comfortable enough to lay. She is young, but has laid a few eggs. I really appreciate your help with my newbie questions

Do you have a door on the coop that goes into the yard? If so , get them out into the yard and then close the door.

I am a newbie too but couldnt you just cut doors in the back of nests to check for eggs?

I am having trouble opening the door to get them to go out in the yard. They won't even go out into the yard if I throw out food. I will open up the door to try and get them out in the yard ( a run really) & they just try to fly on me instead-- the opposite direction of where I want them to go.

I will try and take pictures today of how it is constructed. That may help.
