    I like to use pine needles, but of course, depending on where you live, that may or may not work.

    Thanks for your reply....all of the above..we are complete newbees...lol...we want about 10 hens. I'm going to build a run, coup with an area to lay. I'm curious about costs monthly and where to buy. We are in N.J. Toms River area.
