I have a young toddler who, accordingly, has a pitchy toddler voice. Whenever she speaks within earshot of any of our chickens, they shake their heads rapidly, as if uncomfortable. It’s not just loudness, as they do it when she’s at a fair distance.

Anyone else notice anything like that? I’m just curious if there’s some kind of sensitivity or aversion chickens as a species have to high pitched noise. Obviously chicks are in a super high range so maybe they’re attuned to it??

Yes most definitely. I notice it often when I speak at a certain tone. Higher pitches are fine but it's mostly male voices which trigger the head shaking. A lot of parrots shake their heads if you whistle which is the same thing I believe, just with a higher pitch.
I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Sorry I haven't explained it well but I know exactly what you're talking about.
