Here is something I always do that you all might not have thought of. About four days before the hatch I tape one of those cheap hearing-aid devices (you know the add, He wants to watch TV, She wants to read, He puts in the earphone of this little battery-powered device.....about ten dollars at WalMart, or Amazon) inside the dome lid of the incubator and attach a good pair of earbuds to it, and turn up the volume. It is fantastic to hear all the movement, tapping, cheeping, etc. that goes on. Besides allowing me to marvel at the communication that happens way before they hatch, it lets me know DURING the hatch if there are still viable eggs and how many might need help because of chicks [IMG] tiring out. I can't recommend it enough, and if you have kids, well......

What a neat idea! I'll have to try this for our next hatch!
