I see chicken ppl providing cooling measures for their chickens. -Does anyone take measures for guineas? Heat index warnings for later in week. I put a gal jug of ice in their water but hadn't thought of further measures before. But I've never had a hen glued to her nest before. Should I try to set a frozen bottle near her?

I don’t do much for our guineas on hot days. They will hunker down in shady vegetation and cool off in their leaves. Sometimes I’ll offer them cold water, but they aren’t necessarily interested. For broody guineas and chickens, I use a rechargeable personal fan and frozen water bottles if the temperature hits 100 F. I aim the fan so it blows air over the water bottle then to the hen. I also bought a small swamp cooler last year and used that in my guinea coop when I had a hen on eggs during an extreme heat wave in triple digits. At the time of the heat wave, I took the eggs I wanted to hatch and put them in the incubator and gave the hen eggs I didn’t care about to sit on. When the eggs were close to lockdown, then she got the real eggs back.
