Update: The little chick passed away
Hi all,
My son opened the brooder cage lid yesterday afternoon and the heat lamp fell on top of one of my chicks.
Within seconds i was there and had lifted it, getting it out and checked it over immediately. It seemed that it had signed a slight bit of its wing feathers, some leg fluff and some fluff above its bottom, but otherwise had luckily escaped unscathed.
I snuggled with it and put some Cetrigen wound spray around its back end/leg area as a just in case.
Later that evening I noticed it just wanted to sleep, was keeping one eye closed and was holding its tail down as well and wasnāt as lively or spritely as the other three itās in with.
This morning, I noticed it did seem improved but also had moments where it was then doing the above again. I did see it drink, poo but havenāt seen it eat at all.
My biggest worry is internal injuries or something similar but it, other than a few burnt feathers, doesnāt seem physically injured from what i can see.
Could this be shock? And what more can I do for this chick?
Pics posted below of what it is like in its sleeping/quiet moment compared to the others.
UPDATE:
Picture posted of what i came home to in my lunch break. Better in terms of its spirits but oozing around leg/back of leg area. Have applied more cetrigen and also manuka honey wound gel (clean hands). Itās using its legs (jumped up onto my hand) but now is just resting/standing under the lamp.
