Heat plate

Is my heating plate too high? These guys are silkie mixed and full silkie. Not sure if its too high or not opinions?

Adding hjey dont make any noise unless someone moves then they do? I moved it down a notch. If their too hot they wont bw right under it im guessing? Ive never had a heat plate so new to me lol

For a heat plate, the chicks need to be able to touch the bottom of the plate with their backs. I always tilt mine, make the back end lower than the front. That way, they can find the spot that suits them.

I think moving it a couple notches did the trick

I keep mine tilted and the pale silkie snuggles right against the lowest part in the back. The other chicks hang out in the middle or front or not at all. They aren’t quite 1 week old (2 copper marans and 2 ayam cemani) I still have a heat lamp and the black chicks like to sleep under that. I’ll take the lamp away this week and we’ll see if the others use the plate more
