Heat

My light broke and I can't get another until the morning. How can I keep the chicks warm ? They just hatch today right now they are back in the incubator.

A regular light bulb puts out heat - do you have a higher watt incandescent or CFL bulb?

turn the bator down to about 90, they will be ok in there till morning. make sure you get a couple heat lights when you go. if you have to give them water just try to do it fast they will be ok for a few.

oh boy. ok how is the heat lamp broke? is it a metal one? i have had them come untwisted and fall apart and you can just screw them back together

Do you have ANY lamps in your home - you can rig a temporary setup with anything that will hold/power a bulb

I was using a desk lamp for a temp setup and it started smoking and stopped working even with a new bulb. I found a heating pad. Another trip to tractor supply I hope they have one they didnt have a water thing today.

hun, thats not safe, you have to have a heat lamp that is ul listed for the heat bulbs. dont put another bulb in that lamp. its garbage now. just keep them in the brooder till tomorrow. at 95

Thanks, It in the trash I try changing the light bulb and it bust it in my hand.
