So...my breeding plan is changing somewhat, and now I'm considering focusing on 1-4 (I know, wide range) heavy/dual purpose rare/endangered breeds. Off the bat, I have BLRW and GLCs that I will start with. But, I'm looking for suggestions for others...here are a couple that I have come up with.

Okay, well, maybe literally just a couple. [IMG] Any other suggestions out there?

No, but I will say that I love my Delawares- they are so personable and fun. The hens are good layers. The four roos I processed were very tasty, too.

I was going to say Javas, too! You might also consider Dorkings and Faverolles.

Houdans are not thought as a dual purpose chicken, but they were originally bred for it.
