Is it normal for a rooster to be very close and clingy to a hen who is about to lay an egg? I just happened to be outside when I heard an egg song, so I scooted into the coop to find a hen getting ready to do her thing. But first, the rooster fluffed about the lay box, made soft cooing noises, and then herded the hen in. She must have found his arrangement adequate, because she got cozy and set out making breakfast! He stood in front of her hovering over her the entire time, while giving me the evil eye like I was a pervert or something [IMG]

Perfectly normal for a GOOD rooster. [IMG]
