    Hello Guys,

I am new to keeping chickens in adulthood. We always had chickens when I was a child. Now I am getting started with chickens now that I have my own family and home(with land). When I was a child I did not have anything to do with the chickens ... just reaped the benefits. Now my wife and I want to become as self sustainable as possible. The poultry is the first step. I hope that I can interact with you guys throughout the journey.

Hope to see and talk to you guys soon,

PS: If there are any users around the gainesville area, or west of gainesville, shoot me a message.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of chickens are you getting? Or have you already gotten them?

Welcome I am over near Tallahassee. You will learn much here. Read the predators thread and the illness threads. Can be depressing but it will help you be better prepared in case of a problem.

Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed; very hardy, calm and gentle, and the best layers of the standard, brown egg laying breeds. Good luck with your Australorps.
