Hello all! I have been reading posts here for a while and decided it was time to become a member. I live in NC and my family consists of myself, husband, and 4 year old son. We have a shiba Inu and 2 cats. I have wanted to own chickens for quite sometime but we ended up with Coturnix Quail. A friend of the families gave us an incubator and I hatched 11 babies a week ago. The hatch rate was only 50% but not too bad for a first try. We are all enjoying this adventure. We plan on adding 4 easter egger females to the family as well in the spring. I am looking forward to all the knowledge and advice.

We only have 1/4 acre lot in a subdivision so everything we do has to be planned perfectly. We grow quite a lot of our own fruits and veggies and make as many home products as we can. Little by little we are trying to become more self sufficient and healthy. Thank you in advance for all the help :)
