My husband brought home 3 chickens from a co-worker one night. He has always wanted laying hens and he got his opportunity, lol. I'm a softie. We have a good coop and run for them but let them mostly free range our back yard. They seem to be happy and give us an egg a day each. However, today we almost lost one due to the sudden heat increase. I hosed her down and put her in my cool garage with ice in her vacinity. I gave her some pedialyte and she has gone from limp unconsciencousness (sp?) to sitting and pecking at a little food and drinking a little water but not standing or really moving. Does she have a chance of making it? I'm figuring that I will leave her in our cool garage for the next few days with plenty of water and food but is there anything else I should be doing?

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan :D

Sounds like a good plan. You may want to visit the Arizona thread, they are active and have a lot of experience with hot-weather chicken keeping.
