Hello from Dallas, TX

Hello from just north of Dallas. Have a large yard and we've been talking about chickens for a while, have decided to make the leap. I've yet to order chicks or build a coop - there's almost too much information here and I have to admit I'm having a hard time sorting through. We primarily want eggs, I have no qualms about ordering extra chicks for meat use.

I'd appreciate links to the "must read" threads on breed selection, coop/ run construction, and general care of the chickens.
