After years of apartment living we moved into a house last year. I really wanted to get chickens or ducks, but then decided not to because of grumpy neighbors who share our yard. Well, last week we caught a duck that was just waddling down our road. (Providence?) So, I joined this forum forum for the duck section.

I know nothing about keeping birds, but I am excited to learn!

Was this a wild duck or someones captive duck?

If you need any tips and hints on ducks, you can post your questions in our duck section...

Ducks are much easer to take care of then chickens or geese
and make very little noise compared to most other animals ...[IMG]

Ducks are fairly easy to care for as common knowledge allows
they need a pool of water to was up in and when eating water
need's to be available to choke down the food..... Please do
not feed them bread as this really is not good for them but most
grains or wheat and grass but I am sure you have a local feed
store should have the proper feed for them .... [IMG]

I hope you have a good time with your new duck [IMG]

We are assuming captive. I don't think we could have caught a wild one, and I don't know of anywhere around here where they live wild. But, no one called about the "Found: Duck" posters that we put up all over our neighborhood.

Welcome to BYC. If it's the duck in your avatar , I think that you have a Muscovy hen. Time to get a drake if that's the case. [IMG]
