    Hi yall,
Have been wanting to raise hens for quite some time now. finally have a big yard to do it in (hopefully)!!! I'm in Arlington (university park to be exact) and have looked all over the city's website for the latest up to date ordinances and the neighborhoods that have opted out. can anyone tell me if I can have my chicks? UP doesn't have an HOA, but I thought I saw something about this area listed somewhere online (wish I could remember where) as having opted out. if someone could give me some guidance it would help tons!! Thanks!!

Hello there and welcome to BYC! [IMG]

You could try calling your local city hall. They should be able to tell you all you need to know. Mountain Peeps has left you with a good link to follow as well. Your area may be talked about there.

Good luck and I hope you can get some chickens soon!

Welcome to BYC. Here's a link to the final ordinance and chicken exempt areas in Jax. I was at the final city council vote for the ordinance:

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I did take a look at those links. although there's no HOA in my neighborhood, somehow it's on the exemption list. so I guess that's that. [IMG] wish there was something else. just doesn't seem fair. Thanks again...

You could try some bantams as house chickens - silkies, cochins, seramas - silkies especially don't look like chickens. They could be some really exotic cockatoo
