[IMG] I am originally from Beaumont, TX, practically neighbors.

Welcome to a great place to learn and share. I have Buff orpingtons too (as well as a slew of others). We have 5 hens and a rooster, with 9 chicks that are 3 weeks old, one that is 1 week old, and 2 that are 8 weeks old. and more due to hatch in the next few days. (and that is just the BOs) I love broody hens!!

    There's an old saying:

"chicks in April, eggs in September"

so if you got chicks in March, you should get eggs in August -- providing, of course, that the old saying is correct.

    welcome!
