    Hi,

I'm brand-new to chicken-keeping (chickening? fowl-fostering? hen-husbandry?) and am reading up all I can before the little fluff balls get here in mid-April. A nice lady at the feed store directed me to this site so here I am!

    Thanks,

    Aimee

Hi Aimee, it's nice to have you here! What breed of chicks are you getting?

There's a state thread for members in MA, so if you'd like to 'meet' some of them just click on the state thread link in my signature.

    Thanks for joining us!

Thanks! Maybe I can find the nice lady in the MA thread. Wish I had gotten her name.

We are getting speckled sussex, buff orpington, salmon faverolle, and buff brahma; 2 each. We wanted easygoing birds who could handle a New England winter and the info pages the feed store had on them seemed to indicate these would fit the bill.

Thanks, all! Looking into housing options now. Already got some good ideas for feeding and watering stations from BYC.
