Hello,
I’m not really new to chickens, just new to owning them myself. I kept 3 Cochin/silkie sisters from my Mom’s flock after she passed away in April this year. Their names are Raven, Bunny, and Sprite (she was named after the sprites in Rainbow Brite, not the drink). Sadly, I lost Bunny to a fox after a special needs child messed with the coop. He didn’t know any better.
I now have 10 hens...
2 Cochin/silkie cross (Sprite and Raven), 2 Ameraucanas (Arya and Cappy), a pearl star leghorn (Franny), a porcelain d’uccle bantam (Bean), a silver duck wing old English game bantam (Leia), a white silkie bantam (Kitty), a midnight Majesty Maran (Vera), and a Cochin (Flora). All but the 2 Sikie/Cochin cross were from Family Farm and Home.
I love just watching them be chickens. Their antics never fail to put a smile on my face. My neighbor friend also has chickens and they come visit me for treats!
Other hobbies include watercolor painting and crocheting.
