Im new to the site , i have raised chickens in the past but its been a little while and used to have about 2000 quail. Its been a while but im in the process of building a new coop and getting a few chickens, hopefully some buffs or red stars. I hear there is a south Georgia group on here , where would i find that on the site?Hope to enjoy the site and meet some local and not so local new like minded freinds. Danny

Thanks redsoxs , and i aprreciate the link. The 2000 quail started out as a ffa project when i was in high school and my grandfather and i ran with it . mostly just for the fun of it , but we ate some and sold some as well. He was a farmer and tought me everything i know and i was blessed to have him as a grandfather. He tought me stuff i could never have learned without him.I just wish he was here now so we could make our comeback to raising poultry together. Im quite sure though he wouldnt trade palces with me for anything in the world. Sorry for the story just a little about my past lol.

No problem - I love stories. Are quail pretty easy to raise? As in, other than predators are there they pretty low maintenance?

Yes they were pretty easy to raise , the only problems we had were sometimes one would get sick and if you didnt isolate it , then they would all wind up sick. But with medicated feed now and again and we hardly had any trouble with that , just lots of growing and multiplying lol which is what we were looking for.We also had a few chuckers probably 50 -100 birds . They were easy to raise as well.
