Well I'm excited to say I'm on my way to havin chickens for the first time. In the process of getting a coop right now, which is going to be an 8x8 shed or bigger. I wanted something large enough to walk into so the kids could play with the birds. That and when the winters bring cold weather and deep snow I won't feel so bad keeping them cooped up. I think I'm going to get about 6 hens and a rooster or two. Either way, I'm excited

Hello from Texas! I think you will love your new family when you get them. We started a week ago and our chicks have already developed wing feathers. This forum is terrific and you will get a lot of great advice from members.

8x8 should be about big enough for 6 chooks. Just don't forget about 'chicken math'! Hi from Colorado, BTW.

Welcome and enjoy your birds. There are a lot of good threads on this website. I like Fermented Feed for Meat Birds. I feed it to my layers and they love it!

I'll actually be driving through st. Iggy tomorrow. Gotta head up to the soo for a couple days. I have to ask cause there are alot of people in the area that don't know but do you know where Bois Blanc Island is right? That's where I live.
