I'm new to chickens and have been lurking for a couple weeks on here. We finally made the plunge and got 4 Australorps (straight run) 3 Gold Comets and 3 Tetra Links. We really only planned on starting out with 4 to 6 and we went with the comets and the tertas since we knew they were girls but I just couldn't pass up the cute lil penguin chicks lol. I told my hubby that since they are straight run that we would prolly end up with 1 or 2 roos that would need rehomed so wouldnt be to far over our original plan ..... hehe I'm secretly hoping they are all girls lol !! I checked our city ordinance etc and honestly it is so contradictory that I really am not sure if we are aloud to have them or not. I thought about calling but I really didnt want to hear no so have decided to go under the radar. I talked to my neighbor and she is fine with it as long as we dont have a roo and I ofcourse told her she would be getting free eggs lol. The next 2 houses over we refer to as the crazy cat family because they feed all the stray cats that will come near their houses. Hopefully we will be ok but if something happens I will just have to fight to keep my girls !! Well I hope to learn lots from everyone and make some new chicken friends.
