This is a great site ! I'm looking for idias to build a coop to house abot 15 silkies. Any advice on how big it should be ? They free range in a 20' x10' pen during the day. Thanks for any advice !! Thanks , Jan

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. Build as large as you can afford. Chicken math tends to take over quickly. :lau

Hello and welcome to BYC [IMG] It is suggested that you allow 4sq feet per bird inside the coop and 10sq feet per bird in the run.

    Hi and :welcome

60 sq ft. would be about right. Although I suppose the coop doesn't have to be so big if they have a pen area to roam around in. Our coop isn't huge, but our hens free range during the day.

I hope you find all the info you need here, and enjoy the site. :D
