I've been researching on this website for about 3 months now and decided it's time to join! I grew up on a farm, but have been living in the city for 10+ years now and decided it was time to join the "Urban Farm" crowd (and trust me in Portland, it's a CROWD
We have 3 hens. A Barred Rock named "Lola", A Golden Laced Wyandotte named "Cheepy-Cheepy" and a Splash Polish Hen named "Beaker". They are about 13 weeks old.
We have had many fun/scary/hilarious experiences in the past 3 months with our chickens. This forum has been an incredible resource for us and has helped us immensely. Most recently we were panicking about what to do with our 2 hens that were pecking our polish hen's protuberance feathers out and causing bleeding. I went straight to this forum & found many posts about Blu-Kote. So far this has worked & quite possibly has saved Beaker's life.
