Hello chicken world! Lol.
Ok, so I registered a week or two ago, and have been lurking for longer than that. I've learned a LOT so far by reading all of the posts and FAQ's, and know that there's plenty more to learn.
I've hatched and raised quail before, but this is my first try at chickens. Wish me luck!

I'm on day 20 of incubation, and have 4/10 eggs pipped!

I keep running back over a checking on them through the incubator window.
I started with 12, but only 10 made it this far. I think that 1 wasn't fertile, and the other did the "blood ring" thing that I read about here.

The lady that I bought the eggs from has an Ameraucana Rooster, and an assortment of hens (Ameraucana, Australorp, Road Island Red, Buff Orpington Australorp mix, and Brown Leghorn), so I don't really know what I have. I guess we'll just call them all Barnyard mixes of half Ameraucana.

Anyway, just stopping her to say hello BYC!

PS - I know that the city allows chickens, but I think that I might be pirate, due to the distance to adjacent structures requirement... Guess we'll see.
