Hello from southern California. I just started browsing through this website and I just cant seem to get enough of it. I look forward to using all the available resources on this site and gaining alot from all the experienced people on here.

I am also new to raising chickens for the benefit of collecting eggs. Two chickens and a rooster were given to me which I currently have in a temporary coop and let free during the day until I finish the permanent coop. I just found 5 eggs stashed on the outside of the laying box and could of been there for as long as 1 week? Are these still safe to consume? Where could I find more info on safe egg handling?
    Thanks in advance

I Like to err on the side of caution. I imagine you have warm weather even now. I would dump the eggs. There will be others.

I would let the egg's go as it has been very warm here in
Southern California, I gather daily and check two to three
times during the day ...... [IMG]
But there plus days toss or cook up for your animals [IMG]

Welcome to BYC [IMG] Glad you joined us! I float any suspect eggs in a bowl of water. If the eggs sink they are fresh, if they stand up, or float they are either stale or past it.
