I am a first time chicken owner. I have a small "flock" of 10 chickens ranging in age from 21-23 weeks old. I believe that I have 8 Hens and 2 Roosters. I was hoping for all Hens. The breeds are mixed from what the man said that I bought them from. Ameraucana, Plymouth Rock, Sussex, Orpington, and covered by a RIR and Faverolles. I am excited to learn about my chickens.

My dad and I built the coop from scrap lumber around the house and have a 200 square foot enclosure for them to roam. I cant truly free range my chickens due to high population of predatory birds in the area and my 2 year old lab mix that would like to munch on them.

I am including a picture for your enjoyment/amusement.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a nice mix of breeds. I'm considering getting some Faverolle chicks myself in the spring if there are any available in our area. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.
