[IMG] I am LeeAnn, from Knoxville, Tennessee. I have a 7 year old little boy and we bought our first chicks yesterday! We purchased two barred rock pullets and two black sexlink pullets. We built our coop from a kit and have placed it in our fenced in back yard. We have a lot to learn and are really enjoying watching the chicks on a daily basis. They are amazing little creatures! My son has named them Henny Penny (have to have at least 1), Hermione, Luna and AnnaBelle. The next step is to learn to tell them apart. I'm enjoying reading all of the forum posts and learning little hints and tricks from experienced chicken people.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join to our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My 7 year old granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Black Sex Links are my favorite chickens; hardy and friendly egg laying machines. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. You will get loads of eggs from those two girls. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Congratulations on your new baby flock. After they grow awhile, you'll find you can tell them apart by their personalities. Glad you joined Backyard chickens.
