Hi, my name is Charlie and I am going to use the template for the first post.

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are getting our first chickens July 5th. We are getting the chicks from Murray McMurray.

    (2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We will have a total of 34 chicks when they arrive. 25 Cornish X Rock and Cornish Roasters. I wanted some chickens for meat and didnt want to have to find a nice day in November to process, so we got the "BBQ Special". The 9 remaining will be layers for us. 2 each of Buff Orps, Silver laced Wyandotte, New Hampshire Red and Light Brahmas. The last one is a free one they throw in.

    (3) What breeds do you have?
    Answered above

    (4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I found out about BTC from Google when I was first looking into getting chickens. This has been a very informative website and plan to use it to the fullest.

    (5) What are some of your other hobbies?

    (6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My hobbies include 4 children! I grew up on a farm, but didnt stay there and now have an interest in raising some of our own food. We have a Springer Spaniel and live on an acre lot with a fenced in back yard. We hope to let the layers roam the backyard when we are home with them. As for an occupation, we own a store, but I dont want to break the rules by talking about it!

I will certainly take any tips and advice you might have to share.[IMG]

I spent some time in the black hills about 20 summers ago and loved every minute of it!! You will love these forums. The folks here are very helpful and informative and it IS the place to be if you are raising poultry.

    Enjoy! [IMG]

[IMG] Sounds like you're going to have a really nice flock. I've never been to the Black Hills, I hear it's quite beautiful! [IMG]
