Finger Lakes NY
Names Pitch, from the cold north finger lakes in ny. Have no chicks yet planning on getting Brahmas this spring and building my first coop as well. Any one know of any good brahma breeders in this area of ny that does local pick up? Not looking for show quality just pets. Thanks

Welcome!

I recommend a visit to the Learning Centre; lots of good tips there: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

and some great coop ideas here if you do not already have any: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

Hey there, Pitch, welcome to BYC! Is there a particular color brahma you are looking to find? Many breeders work with just one or two colors of a given breed, so knowing what you're looking for can help with suggesting a breeder to get in touch with. You can also find a "local" thread for your area here http://media.kohlsimg.com/is/image/kohls/2671568?wid=500&hei=500&op_sharpen=1 - which can be helpful in networking to find folks with the birds you want.

I am a huge fan of the dark brahma love the look, I have been researching chickens and breeds for the better part of a year and while my fiancé is excited about getting chickens I think she thinks I have gone chicken crazy
