I'm completely new to the chicken scene. My husband and I are working on our first coop now. We're "adopting" my sister's chickens when she moves this summer; they already lay and are quite friendly! We plan to have 2-3. Our coop is a converted play-house with an 8' run built off the back. We still have a lot of work to do to it, but hopefully our little chickies will like it!

! Happy you joined our flock! I think the converted playhouse is a good idea - make sure you predator proof it! As new chicken raisers, below is a couple link you might find helpful. Good luck and enjoy your birds!!

The Learning Center is an all around great resource for learning about chicken care and upkeep:

Thanks! We have a lot of work to do before we can officially be chicken people, but I'm really excited.

Welcome! You have hooked up with a great resource in BYC.

You say you are just adopting from your sister, well, I suspect it will not be long before you are hooked!!! You will find that chickens are easy and quite pleasant to have.

Have fun with this and keep them out of your flower beds!!!
