Hello all! We run a nonprofit program where we offer free horsemanship lessons to children of military families. This year we are adding to our "Farm to Table" program where kids can help in the garden and get fresh vegetables to bring home and eat. We have done this the last few years and the kids LOVE it! Now we have decided to add chicken, guineas and just for the fun factor a few pea fowl. It's been years since growing up on my uncle's farm and dealing with the chickens so we are really excited to get a flock of our own! Looking forward to learning lots from you all

! Great to have you in our community! Wow - what an awesome sounding program you've got going. I think poultry is the perfect addition! If you need a crash course in the basics and beyond of chicken raising, I suggest the various articles of the Learning Center here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

And here are the links to the guinea and peafowl forums:

Welcome!

Kudos to you for running an awesome program.

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Thank you all for the welcome and great info. We will be getting our Ameracauna and Speckled Sussex chicks at the end May and are looking for either local or reputable sellers that ship for the meets and peachicks. Have you heard anything about guineafarm.com and the quality of their birds? Thanks again!
Elizabeth
