:lovehello! :frow

I just wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Kara and I’m from a farm in northern Alberta.
I’m a new chicken mom and I’ve come here for advice!

I have 10- 7 week old chickens that are Rhode Island Red and Plymouth mix. I’ve had them for 4 weeks now.
We made a temporary coop out of a dog kennel and are planning a bigger stationary coop for winter. We made a big 8x10 dog run into a pushable chicken run from attaching wheels to the bottom so we move them around once every 4 days
I originally bought them as meat birds, but I fell In love :love with them and I decided to keep them for eggs, to breed them, grow my flock and use younger generations for meat.

I’m a person that want someone happy, healthy, free range chickens.
I like to be in tune with nature and feel grounded with the earth. :)
Anyone here like that aswell?

I can totally see how people can become crazy over them because man are they ever a lot of fun.
I want to get turkeys, ducks and geese next spring :woot
Super excited for that.

I am a young mother of 2 and a old soul. I am a previous brown thumb and I have my first big garden this year and it’s so fun so far.
I feel like farming and gardening is becoming lost among the younger generations so it’s something I have a even greater desire to do. :old

So yeah, that’s a bit of my story.
Not sure if anyone cares but it was fun to post!! :D
