(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We got our first chickens March of 2013.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Ten layers, though one is sick.
(3) What breeds do you have? Two of each, Buff Orpingtons, RIR, Black Australorp, Ameraucana, Silverlace Wyandottes.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Started reading before got chickens but never joined.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Take care of my elderly parents doesn't leave much time for hobbies, but reading, embroidery (hand), and cooking and of course grandchildren.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Married 40 years, retired RN, husband electrical engineer, moved to rural area near Mt. Rainier, WA about 5 years ago to care for my aging parents who live with us. Chickens are good therapy. My mom was raised on farm and always had chickens. She seems to enjoy having them. We also have a dog but no other pets. Live in area with lots of predators, eagles, hawks, coyote, bobcat, cougar, bear, etc. so we have large run with mesh over top for chickens when outside coop.
