Hello New Chicken Friends....

New on here and new to free range chickens. My grandparents had them when I was very young but I don't remember much. We have 8 chickens--4 ISA Browns (Henrietta, Iris, Stella and Babe), 2 Astralorps (Martha and Mechone) and 2 Barred Rock (Wendy and Wanda). Right now they are hanging out in the garage in a trailer, though they are starting to explore big time!! We want to wait one more week before taking them to their coop and introducing them to their yard. I look forward to learning all I can about chickens. We started this primarily for the eggs, but they are already members of the family.

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
