Nope, The geese & ducks sleep on the ground in the front yard ..... The Molted Houdan's have their own coop The Spangled Russian Orloff's have their own coop .... The EE's, RIR & Guinea sleep on the front porch .... Basically the house is surrounded by poultry all night .... gander007

Do the guinea alert you at night if there is a preditor ?? Since the breeds stick together in their own coop is it because you raised them up together as their own flock?

Do the guinea alert you at night if there is a preditor ?? Since the breeds stick together in their own coop is it because you raised them up together as their own flock?

Guinea are silly birds or for a better word cannon fodder as they wont stop the attack just last week
I was pulling into the yard and a Bob-Cat was being bayed up by the Guinea all three were evenly
spaced apart and just making all kinds of racket so I told mu teen aged boy who is 15 years old now
to go pen the fence as he was playing his Nintendo and hadn't a clue what was going on but after
opening the gate he looked under the shed to see what the guinea were squawking about and to
see him jump as I was driving into the was well in worth it but by the time I got out to dispatch the
Bob-Cat it managed to escape out the opened gate ....

So to answer your question oh yes but they also need to be replaced every now and then ...

I was asking because there is a neighborhood that has peacocks. We are hoping for them to migrate here.. But someone mentioned guinea, that they are good like peacocks for protection.. Do they lay an egg everyday? If so do they do it in the nesting box's.. Plus can guinea fly like peacocks? Shoot I am going to have to do more research on them.. Thanks for you help...

Guinea lay egg's in the spring for 16 weeks and more if you are lucky and the egg's are normally on the ground and only in a nesting box if you keep them locked up 24/7 ...

Guinea do fly and roost in trees and on top of your house .....
