My name is Tom and wife and I live in Central AL. Have been around chickens all my life while growing up. Have tried free range chickens, which didn't go well for us. Did well for the fox and hawks. Bought 14 chickens from a neighbor. Same one who got me in the goat business, but, that is an entirely different thing. Anyway, on the 14th day, when I saw a fox wearing a napkin and looking at my last chicken, I knew free range was not the way to go. Now, going to attempt a chicken tractor. 4x8 coop, with an attached 4x8ft run. The run to be 2 ft. high, the coop 4ft high with a slanted roof. The flooring will be 1/2 hardware cloth and the run wrapped in the same. Will be dragging it around the yard and pasture every 3-4 days. Anyway, that is the plan. Will let you know how it goes. Anyone want to buy a goat!!!!![IMG] Just kidding.
