Hello all,

This is an excellent forum! Lots of great info!
Yesterday around 7:00PM we were walking around a lake and found these two chicks. Looked for mom, but none around.

We took them home, placed them in cardboard box, set the thermostat to 83 since they looked cold while we roasted and they slept well.

This morning I'll be on my way to the feed store to pick up some supplies. It looks like I can not upload pictures to identify their age and type of chickens; perhaps the feed store attendant might know.

Hope to be chatting with a bunch of you about chickens,
Alekos

Wow, how odd to find random chicks. Would love to see the pictures to guess how old they are! Then maybe folks can id them. Are their any chickens in your area?

Thanks all.
Just got back from the feed store and the clerk there said they're about 4 weeks old.
We walk around one of the Orlando lakes after dinner and feed the ducks and ducklings. There used to be two full grown chickens there up until 3 months ago, then they disappeared. There are wild chickens in parts of Orlando and Oveido is 'infested' with them.
We weren't really looking for new pets beyond our Quaker parrot, but the three of them keep good company. I'll be building a coop in a couple of weeks and keeping them since from what I gather, they're pretty much easy to care for and then there's those fresh eggs!
It's really funny because we were just talking about that about a month ago. Who would've guessed?

It only takes about 10 posts or so to prove you are a real person and then you can do pictures! So what do these chicks look like? Colors? Feathers on the feet? Any combs coming in yet?
