Hi, my name is Tracey and I'm from Perth, Western Australia. We have 2 bantams, Honeydew and Cherry Blossom, that were given to the kids for Christmas last year as 12 week old pullets. Honeydew is a feather footed Pekin bantam, and Cherry Blossom is a cross (she has a couple of feathers on her feet, but not many!). They're gorgeous girls who are very friendly, and LOVE to be hand fed porridge! My MIL also has 2 white chickens that have some Sussex in them that I have nicknamed Matilda and Griselda (the ugly step sisters). They are well mannered and curious, but have not been handled much so they won't really let you get too close. The can occasionally be enticed to eat our of your hand (briefly) if you are offering something really good! Tilly and Zelda live on the "upper terrace" and Cherry and Honey are down closer to the house. We only moved in with the MIL 2 months ago, so since our arrival Tilly and Zelda spend a lot of their day sitting and watching Cherry and Honey and appearing to wonder why they let us manhandle them! We also picked up 6x day old GL Wyandotte chicks yesterday to try and graft onto Honey... (I posted about that in the Raising Chicks thread) hopefully we'll end up with atleast 3 hens as they are actually for a girlfriend of mine! (She wants to give her 3 daughters a hen each for Christmas) Fingers crossed that we get more hens than roos as my 6 year old doesn't want to part with any of the chicks, and we can't keep roos where we are.
